When God had bidden them go up and take the land, they had refused; and now when He directed them to retreat they were equally rebellious. They determined to seize upon the land and possess it; it might be that God would accept their work and change His purpose toward them. | |

Folket græd hele natten, men om morgenen øjnede de nyt håb. De besluttede at råde bod på deres fejhed, Da Gud bød dem drage op og tage landet i besiddelse, nægtede de det. Da han nu gav dem befaling til at trække sig tilbage, var de lige så stædige. De var besluttede på at angribe landet og tage det i besiddelse. Det kunne jo være, at Gud ville billige deres bestræbelser og ændre sin beslutning. |
