You have but little sense of the exalted character of the work for these last days. You have not made sacrifices for the truth. You have a close, penurious spirit, and have closed your eyes to the wants of the distressed and needy. Your compassion has not been stirred to relieve the wants of the oppressed, neither have you had a heart to aid the cause of God with your means or to distribute to the necessities of the suffering. Your heart is on your earthly treasures. Unless you overcome your love of the things of the world you will have no place in the kingdom of heaven. {2T 678.4}

Bror P's position har gjort ham til en svag mand. I ganske lang tid kæmpede han imod næsten alt undtagen sabbaten. Samtidig havde han fællesskab med lovbrydere, der stadig påstås af adventister at være i bitter opposition med det fjerde buds sabbat. Han var ikke i stand til at hjælpe dem fordi han selv var rådvild. Hans (697) indflydelse havde snarere bekræftet mange i deres vantro. Med al den hjælp, beviser og opmuntringer han har haft, har hans tilbageholdenhed mishaget Herren, medens det har styrket deres hænder som i deres modstand til sandheden kæmper imod Gud.
