We must gather about the cross. Christ and Him crucified must be the theme of contemplation, of conversation, and of our most joyful emotion. We should have these special appointments for the purpose of keeping fresh in our thoughts everything which we receive from God, and of expressing our gratitude for His great love, and our willingness to trust everything to the hand that was nailed to the cross for us. We should learn here to talk the language of Canaan, to sing the songs of Zion. By the mystery and glory of the cross we can estimate the value of man, and then we shall see and feel the importance of working for our fellow men, that they may be exalted to the throne of God. {4T 462.1}

[Vi må samles omkring korset. Kristus og ham korsfæstet må være emnet for betragtning og for samtale, grundlaget for vore lifligste sindsbevægelser. Vi bør have disse særlige sammenkomster i den hensigt stadig at bevare alt, hvad vi får af Gud, i frisk minde og udtrykke vor taknemmelighed for hans store kærlighed og vor villighed til at overlade alting i den hånd, der blev naglet til korset for os. Her bør vi lære at tale Kana'ans sprog, at synge Zions sange. Korsets gåde og korsets herlighed kan lære os at beregne menneskets værdi og da vil vi kunne indse og erkende betydningen af at virke for vore medmennesker, for at de må kunne blive ophøjet til Guds trone.
