But you need not despair. You must be determined to believe, although nothing seems true and real to you. I need not tell you it is you yourself that has brought you into this unenviable position. You must win back your confidence in God and in your brethren. It is for you to yield up your will to the will of Jesus Christ; and as you do this, God will immediately take possession and work in you to will and to do of His good pleasure. Your whole nature will then be brought under the control of the Spirit of Christ, and even your thoughts will be subject to Him. You cannot control your impulses, your emotions, as you may desire; but you can control the will, and you can make an entire change in your life. By yielding up your will to Christ, your life will be hid with Christ in God and allied to the power which is above all principalities and powers. You will have strength from God that will hold you fast to His strength; and a new life, even the life of living faith, will be possible to you. But your will must co-operate with God’s will, not with the will of associates through whom Satan is constantly working to ensnare and destroy you. {5T 513.4}

Men du behøver ikke at fortvivle. Du må beslutte dig til at tro, skønt intet synes sandt og virkeligt for dig. Jeg behøver ikke at fortælle dig, at det er dig selv, der har bragt dig ind i denne alt andet end misundelsesværdige stilling. Du må vinde din tillid til (514) Gud og dine brødre tilbage. Du må bøje din vilje under Jesu Kristi vilje og når du gør dette vil Gud øjeblikkelig gribe ind og virke i dig at ville og virke til hans velbehag. Din hele natur vil da blive bragt ind under Kristi ånds kontrol; og selv dine tanker vil blive ham underdanige. Du kan ikke beherske dine impulser og følelser, som du skulle ønske, men du kan kontrollere viljen og du kan gøre en fuldstændig forandring i dit liv. Ved at overgive din vilje til Kristus, vil dit liv blive skjult med Kristus i Gud og forbundet med den magt, som er over alle fyrstendømmer og magter. Du vil få styrke fra Gud som vil knytte dig fast til sin styrke; og et nyt lys, ja en levende tros lys vil det blive muligt for dig at opnå. Men din vilje må samarbejde med Guds vilje, ikke med sådanne kammeraters vilje, som Satan stadig arbejder igennem for at besnære og ødelægge dig.
