The sacred choir united their voices with all kinds of musical instruments, in praise to God. And while the voices, in harmony with instruments of music, resounded through the temple, and were borne upon the air through Jerusalem, the cloud of God’s glory took possession of the house, as it had formerly filled the tabernacle. “And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.” {1SP 413.3}

Guds ark

På grund af Israels synder kom den ulykke, som Gud sagde ville komme over templet hvis hans folk forlod ham, fuldbyrdet nogle hundrede år efter at templet var blevet bygget. Gud lovede Salomon, at hvis han ville forblive trofast, og hans folk ville adlyde alle hans bud, så det herlige tempel skulle stå for evigt i al sin glans, som et bevis på velstanden og de ophøjede velsignelser der hvilede over Israel, på grund af deres lydighed.
