This very man may make large donations to the church; but will God accept of the money that is wrung from the family of the drunkard? It is stained with the blood of souls, and the curse of God is upon it. God says, "For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering." The church may praise the liberality of one who gives such an offering; but were the eyes of the church members anointed with heavenly eyesalve, they would not call good evil and iniquity righteousness. The Lord says, "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me?. . . .When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Bring no more vain oblations. Incense is an abomination unto me." "Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? Ofret fra den, der gør ondt er forgæves.

Netop denne mand yder måske store gaver til kirken. Men vil Gud modtage de penge, som er fravristet drankerens familie? De er plettet af sjæles blod og Guds forbandelse er over dem. Gud siger: "Thi jeg elsker ret, jeg, Herren, jeg hader forbryderisk rov." Kirken roser gavmildheden hos den, der skænker en sådan gave, men hvis menighedsmedlemmernes øjne var salvede med himmelsk øjensalve, ville de ikke kalde det gode for ondt og uretfærdighed for retfærdighed. Herren siger: "Hvad skal jeg med alle eders slagtofre? ..... Når I kommer at stedes for mit åsyn, hvo kræver da af jer, at min forgård trampes ned? Bring ej flere tomme afgrødeofre, vederstyggelig offer til mig!" "I trætter Herren med eders ord. Og I spørger: "Hvorved trætter vi?" Ved at sige: "Enhver, som gør ondt, er god i Herrens øjne: i dem har han behag; hvor er ellers dommens Gud?"
