As humble, faithful soldiers of Jesus Christ, you are to stand in the world, breasting its opposition,--a little remnant to clear the King's highway. You want to exert such an influence that men will be drawn to give their heart's affections to God, and to take the requisite steps in faith, repentance, conversion, and baptism. It is not enough to be familiar with the arguments of the truth alone. You must meet the people through the life that is in Jesus. Your work will be made wholly successful, if Jesus is abiding with you; for he has said, "Without me, ye can do nothing."

I skal stå foran verden som ydmyge, trofaste Kristi soldater, rede til at modstå de forhindringer og den modstand, som verden stiller i vor vej. Vi skal udøve en sådan indflydelse, at menneskene vil føle sig dragne til at elske Gud med hele sit hjerte og vil tage sådanne nødvendige trin som tro, anger, omvendelse og dåb. Det er ikke nok at være bekendt med sandheden og være i stand til at bevise samme, man må udvise det samme eksempel, som Jesus udviste. Vort arbejde vil først krones med held, dersom Jesus bestandig ledsager os, thi han har sagt: "Uden mig kan I slet intet gøre."
